[geogig-dev] joining geogig community

Hello everyone,

My name is Sebastian Schmidt, working as Software Architect at the IT Department of Stadtwerke München, an energy utilites company supplying the town of Munich in Bavaria, Germany with electricity, gas, water and some telecommunications.

My current business is development and maintainance of the company's GIS. Besides the main proprietary system, we're currently evaluating solutions based on open standards and preferably open source. Mainly for import and tracking edits of data coming from external data sources (cadastral data), we are setting up an environment based on PostGIS, QGIS and geogig.

We are highly interested in geogig as it seems a good solution for some of our major challenges as offline editing, historisation, branching and merging.

There are several possiblities how we could help for further development of geogig:
* We could contribute code. May it be bugfixing or new features (current work is around better performance with mass data/export diffs to PostGIS)
* We could contribute documentation. I found some minor issuses on the website and would be happy to help get them fixed somehow.
* If desired and helpful, we could do some translations into german.

Recently, my co-worker Michael Sieger has put one or two pull requests on github fixing some minor issues we found during evaluation. What can we do to get these merged into the project's code base?

I plan to come to Foss4G in Como, Italy in July this year, does any of the core developers happen to be there too? I'd be glad if we could meet in person and have a talk on these topics.
